Travel

The property is situated above the riverside village of Varen, in Tarn and Garonne (dept 82).  Travel can be easy whichever way you come.

• By air via either Toulouse - about 90 minutes, (various airlines, including BA, Easyjet, BMI, Jet2 etc, from the UK, or via Paris if from further afield) or by Ryanair to Rodez - about 80 minutes, (from Stansted). Carcassonne (Ryanair) is about 2½ hours by car. Flights are most days in the high season.  Car hire is available at the airports and pre-booking is advised. 

• By train from Toulouse or Paris. There are SNCF stations at Lexos and Laguepie, each only 5/6 kms away. As this is a very rural area, a car is pretty near essential, but if long walks or bike rides are enough, the owners will collect you from the local train stations. There is no public transport to speak of and taxis are scarce and expensive.

• If you are coming by car, the A20 autoroute from Paris passes at Caussade, about 30kms away. Other links via the A61 or A62, Toulouse and Bordeaux autoroutes are easily accessed from the A20. And the routes nationales and departmentales afford more leisurely access. We can advise on routes if you decide to come. Allow a good day from the Channel.
